William Pike is a sought-after motivational speaker and accessible role model for  New Zealand youth. He has a passion for the outdoors and education. He has an infectious enthusiasm for adventure, life and fun. His character and outlook on life are nicely summed up by the title of his popular autobiography, Every Day’s A Good Day.

William has a Bachelor of Education with First Class Honours and is an experienced primary school teacher. However, an exit from teaching has allowed William to follow his dream of turning the William Pike Challenge Award into New Zealand’s most popular intermediate and full primary school outdoor education programme.

William was one of two young climbers caught in a volcanic eruption on the slopes of Mount Ruapehu, on the evening of 25 September 2007. He suffered numerous life threatening injuries, and as a result, his right leg was amputated below the knee, needing extensive recovery and rehabilitation. By adopting a positive attitude and moving on with the support of his family and friends, he was once again able to embrace his love of the outdoors. williampike.co.nz.
