Every child has the potential to be a leader – they may just need a little encouragement. We’re dedicated to equipping young people with the skills to lead themselves and others well, through resources and events like the National Young Leaders Days. Parents play an important role in the development of leadership skills. Reinforcing the messages imparted at NYLD at home will further inspire your child to take up positions of leadership, at school, in the community, and in the future.
At NYLD, children hear from a diverse range of New Zealand leaders who share their leadership journey. There is a real sense that the leadership baton is being passed from one generation, to the next. Interactive activities, videos, question time, and student engagement is also part of the programme.
We encourage you to talk to your child about the day. Who was their favourite speaker? What did they learn? It’s also a good time to talk about the leadership values that are important in your own family.
Attending a National Young Leaders Day is just the start of your child’s leadership journey. We hope that you will encourage and support them as they fulfill their dreams and become a great leader.
